Happy birthday, Grandpa Gordie! We hope you have a wonderful day and have many more joyous occasions to celebrate in the upcoming years! We love you dearly and can't wait to see you again soon!
Here is a shot from our backyard Easter egg hunt. Look on my facebook page to get updated on the rest of what we've been up to...including the birth of our latest addition, Archibald Gordon!

Our Goings-ons....

We've had a rather eventful week, here in Chadron. Zella started "school" on Wednesday. It's a pre-school in town that is run by the college. Z goes 3 times a week for 1/2 days. She is loving it!
Proud to show off her classroom!

Laney was pretty excited to spend some time with mommy! :)

Laney has mastered climbing up the slide. It's a good thing that it's up against the wall because instead of the second rung on the ladder she pushes against the wall to get herself all the way up!

She still likes to go down on her belly though, especially when no one is there to guide her down.

Made it!

Pretty proud little girl!

This baby boy continues to grow. I will be 32 weeks on Mon. It's hard to believe there are only 2 more months left!!
Brent was able to get the garage cleaned out to fit both our vehicles in! The truck will remain outside though, as we park all the baby accessories on that side, but it was nice to see that it would hold both vehicles if necessary!

Hope you all had a great week as well!

January, really?!

The temperatures have been so nice lately so we spent hours at the park the other day....on December 30th!!! It was so nice to be able to go out and spend some time outside, we all agreed we'd be happy if this is how our "winter" continued to be.

"That was fun!"
"Ummm, a little help please?"
"Hmmm, maybe if I try hard enough..."

Zella took a shot at walking the dog. She's not well behaved on a leash, so Z did pretty well.
Daddy even got in on the action!

Merry Christmas and other mayhem!

We kept it pretty low-key for Christmas, and celebrated at home with our little family. Here are some snapshots of our days.

Surprise! Our little elf loves homemade whipped cream!

Thanks for the pillow pet, Gma Jan!

You can't tell from this picture but the picnic basket is a huge hit!

Whooppee, a slide! Let the ruckus begin! (This is the only way Laney will go up and down the slide!)

Getting creative!

Merry Christmas!

It's been a long while since we've had any activity on the blog, and that's mainly because there has been A LOT of activity for our family! I will catch you up a little before the calendar year soon reads 2012:

On October 21st our little Laney Jane turned 1!!! She's such a sweetheart and wonderful addition to our family, we just love her so much and so does her big sister!

Brent is adjusting to his new job here in NE. He spent much of the fire season on fires in South Dakota and Wyoming with his Job Corps fire crew. It has its pluses and minuses, but he's wonderful at what he does and a great provider for our family...thank you, honey!

Zella has been learning to play nicely (sharing, manners, etc.) and how best to tackle her little sister without mom and dad knowing! :) She's been learning the skill of telling stories (the latest is about how a snake bit her and so she chased it way up into a tree...) She will be starting preschool part-time in January, and is really excited about it!

I just finished up my last semester of coursework for my master's degrees. Now I just need to student teach (Spring 2013), write a couple theses, and I will be finished with a double master's; one in science teaching and one in teaching science (it sounds ridiculous, but one qualifies me for community college biology teaching and one for secondary science teaching.)

VG #3 is due sometime around March 5th. We found out that we're expecting a little boy and are pretty darn excited! For now, he needs to incubate a little longer, but we're all excited to meet the little fella!

We hope this finds you all well, and healthy! Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

Big Happenings!

Typically our lives are fairly uneventful, but in the last month and the coming few months we're going to see some BIG changes! Brent accepted a new position with USFS in Chadron, NE. It's about 90 miles south of the Black Hills in SD. It will be a big change for Brent, as he will probably see a lot less fire, but he will be working with a crew of Job Corps kids and is excited about the new challenges. I think he will be such a great teacher/mentor, I can't wait to see what he does with the program!

We've been looking to get back to the midwest for awhile, but when I heard "Nebraska" I figured it would be a lot like the Nebraska I had seen from the interstate....flat and pretty boring. Turns out, I was completely wrong. Though most of NE is that way, Chadron is actually pretty beautiful. It has a little bit of the Black Hills topography/geology, it has the Ponderosa pine forest that we're grown so accustomed to (even though it's much smaller in scale), and it has the prairie, which we've missed since living out here. The town has a university so it still has the benefits that small towns don't usually have (sports events, theater, concerts, etc.) The town seems to be very family oriented, which will be a nice change...heck, just having a store within a few miles will be wonderful! We're looking forward to this next chapter!

We ended up putting an offer in on a house and pending on inspection, will close on it on or before July 21st. It was built in the late 70's and has about 3X the space that we're used to. The girls are going to love being able to run around more freely! It needs quite a bit of updating, but we'll pick away at it slowly. It will be so nice to have a place of our own! Here are a few pictures of our trip. Grandma Myrna flew down from North Dakota (thank you so much, mom!!) to take care of Zella while Brent, Laney, and I shopped for houses.

Her first plane ride! She did so great!! We're on the little charter plane from Denver to Chadron, which is an experience in itself!

She had a long day of traveling....what a little trooper!

Here's the house!...the double car garage kind of sealed the deal.

A view of Nebraska's small, but beautiful Ponderosa pines...who knew?!

At Chadron State Park...lots of fun!

Chasing monkey

This crazy monkey was given to the girls from Gma and Gpa DeMers as a Christmas gift. Zella didn't really like it at first, but now it seems to be a big hit!

Laney took her first bath in the big bathtub last night! She was pretty proud of herself, and big sister was pretty happy to have the company as well!

Laney's not too sure about this hugging business!

Munch, munch!

Laney started "solid" foods about a month ago. She likes to eat, and she's getting pretty good at it despite having no teeth yet! Crackers seem to keep her occupied the best!

Hmmm...I guess I'll give it a try.

Crackers and fingers...winning combination!

Maybe this way will work better?

Either way, I'm happy!
